Test Gear
most car audio shops don't have a clue about audio, at River Oaks Car Stereo we take
audio very seriously.


In this photo your looking at a pentium computer with the LMS capture board and LMS software, there
is a dual trace oscilloscope and a big audio oscillator / distortion analyzer as well as our
reference Crown test amplifier


The LMS computer will allow us to put a Mic in the car and take measurements of the wound, it can
help us find problems in a system or make improvements in a system, or simply compare two or more
things to see what is really better.  In the graph above we are comparing two woofers, notice the
purple line has much less bass around 100Hz.  This could be hard to tell with the ear.

We can use this computer for simple things such as adjusting equalizers, or xover settings, or
much more complex things such as determining the best speaker for an application or even
fine box tuning.

This photo shows an Audio Control RTA, we have several RTAs, but this one is most commonly
used in car audio shops, most car audio shops have little or no test gear at all, but the
higher end shops sometimes do have an RTA like this one.  Also there is a dual trace
oscilloscope under the RTA, very ver very few car audio shops would have advanced test
gear like this and probably wouldn't even know how to use one.

Rest assured, we have the test gear and the know how to do almost anything you would want.
And were not just a BOOM shop like too many car audio places, we take our audio seriously.
